About Japa.to

Every move abroad is easier when someone has done it before you.

Japa.to is the community platform for people planning, making, and settling into an international move — from the first late-night search to the day the new place finally feels like home.

Free to join. Built for movers, by movers.

Our mission

Why we exist

Relocating is one of life's biggest decisions — and most people make it with scattered information and no one to ask.

Japa — a word born from Yoruba, now shorthand across West Africa and beyond for leaving home to build a better life elsewhere — is equal parts hope and paperwork. The people who need help most often rely on WhatsApp rumours, paid agents, and scattered forum threads.

We built Japa.to to change that. It is a single, trusted home where people at every stage of the journey — dreaming, researching, applying, arriving, settling — can find verified guides, honest answers from people who have done it, and tools that turn a scary process into a checklist.

No guaranteed-visa salespeople. No recycled misinformation. Just a community that remembers what the first step felt like.

How it works

Built around the real journey

Your profile, feed and tools adapt to where you are — not where someone else thinks you should be.

1

Considering

Exploring the idea. Compare destinations, read stories, find out what a move really costs.

2

Planning

Picking a route and building the plan — visa options, budgets, timelines, checklists.

3

Preparing

Documents assembled, application drafted, requirements checked off one by one.

4

Applied

Application submitted — now it's biometrics, interviews and the waiting game.

5

Approved

Yes in hand. Now the logistics: housing, banking, packing, goodbyes.

6

Relocated

First weeks in a new country. Arrival checklists and local spaces for the things nobody warns you about.

7

Settled

Bank accounts, registrations, your people. You made it — now you're who a newcomer needs.

What we stand for

Community first

Answers come from people who have actually done it — not content farms. Every feature is built to strengthen peer help.

Information you can trust

Guides are versioned, reviewed and dated. When rules change, the page changes — and says when it did.

Privacy by design

Your documents and plans are yours. Granular controls, no data brokerage, and a real delete-my-data path.

Built by migrants

The team behind Japa.to has lived this journey. We build what we needed when we moved.
